Banif Bank sponsors the International Forum 2012

18 November 2011

“Corporate organisations and businesses have a vital role to play in the future of young people,” HRH The Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, declared. “In this regard, I thank Banif Bank (Malta) plc for supporting young people in Malta”.

HRH The Prince Edward was speaking today at a breakfast meeting, hosted by the Chairman and Directors of Banif Bank, where Banif announced it was supporting The International Forum 2012. To mark the occasion, Banif was also launching a special product offer, tailored to encourage youths participating in the President’s Award, to manage their money wisely and save for their future.

The CEO of Banif Bank, Mr Joaquim F Silva Pinto, said that he was very proud to be associated with the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Programme. Known locally as the President’s Award, this Programme can best be described as a programme which equips youngsters with skills for life, embodying one of Banif’s core values: believing in the spirit of human ambition.

Investing in the future of our society is one of the pillars of the Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the Bank’s sponsorship of the International Forum 2012 is a tangible way of showing its commitment to support the local community. Mr Silva Pinto remarked that 2012 will also be an important year for Banif because it will mark the commencement of the fifth year of its local operation.

“As the youngest commercial bank in Malta, Banif has a natural affinity with youngsters, and prides itself on its ability to come up with versatile product offers, just like the one we are launching today for all participants of the President's Award.”

The breakfast event, held at The Exchange Buildings in Valletta, was also attended by a number of distinguished guests, including The Hon Mr Clyde Puli, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sport, Professor Kenneth Wain, the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations and Mr Tancred Tabone, the President of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry. Representatives of youth organisations and other NGOs, Heads of Schools participating in the President’s Award as well as a number of editors in the forefront of the local media scene were also present.
