Manager - Products Strategy Unit

The Bank is seeking to recruit a Manager to join its Products Strategy Unit.

Who we are

We are a leading financial institution, a key player in the Maltese market and part of a highly diversified multi-national group of companies. Employing a team of 200 employees, the Bank offers a full range of lending and savings solutions to both personal and business customers. 

 

Key responsibilities

You will be required to:

  • maintain the Products and Services Dossier by reviewing and updating existing, while developing new products and services in line with the strategic direction of the Bank;
  • ensure that the Dossier is comprehensive and easy to understand. The Dossier shall consist of at least, but not limited to, the product catalogue, process flow application forms, sanction letter templates and product performance amongst others; 
  • monitor the performance of the Bank's products by providing regular reports and be also responsible for developing, testing or reviewing existing or new products;
  • ensure that any proposed products and services and/or creation of related components are viable, profitable, in line with the Bank's expected standards, can be catered for by the Bank's systems and have been thoroughly discussed within relevant departments and committees as per terms of reference;
  • give direction on all campaigns in liaison with the marketing unit in all stages of marketing research projects and in all internal communication related to products. You must also coordinate and deliver all the training related to the sales of the Bank's products;
  • ensure that all product related enquiries are replied to accurately and in a timely manner;
  • coordinate the development of all cross-selling campaigns ensuring all performance monitoring tools show the correct information; 
  • manage various reports and confirm the veracity of their data;
  • be responsible for tariff of charges, ensuring that these reflect a sensible reward for the services provided whilst being competitive. Coordinate the review exercise of the tariff of charges at least once a year, whilst ensuring that a competitor analysis is carried out regularly; and 
  • keep abreast with legislative and regulatory affairs, current affairs, financial news, market trends and general news to be able to actively contribute in the strategic planning of the Bank. You will also be planning strategically to ensure the Bank is on track vis-a-vis regulatory issues, business objectives and also by informing the Bank of the necessary strategic decisions that need to be taken in order for the Bank to differentiate itself and be competitive whilst being profitable. 

 

Competencies and experience

The potential candidate should also have a positive attitude, be well-organised, with a disposition to learn and a meticulous and team-oriented approach to work.

You must also:

  • hold a Degree in Economics, Banking and Finance or Financial Services. A Post-Grad-Degree in Management, Strategy or Financial Services is considered an asset; 
  • be proficient in MS Excel (advances - Macros and Power Pivot); 
  • be proficient with MS Office applications; 
  • have excellent leadership, communication and time management skills; 
  • be target oriented and commercially minded; 
  • have knowledge of Financial Products and Instruments; 
  • demonstrate excellent people management skills; and 
  • be solution driven.
