Gold Card

With a Gold Credit Card from Banif Bank I can pay for my everyday purchases without the need to carry cheques or cash. Cash advances can be made from any Visa supported network, both locally and abroad. To apply for a Gold Credit Card, I have to be at least 18 years of age and earn a minimum gross annual income of €25,000.

I am entitled to a complimentary travel insurance that gives me comprehensive protection while travelling abroad. The policy covers me for medical and hospital expenses, loss or damage to personal items, travel delays, cancellation of travel and legal liability. 

To benefit from this cover, all I need to do is to purchase my travel arrangement using my Gold Credit Card. The travel insurance covers me, my spouse or my partner (if cohabiting for more than 6 months), and my children (up to the age of 18 or 23 if still in full time education).   • free purchase protection insurance 

I can also benefit from a complimentary Purchase Protection Insurance which provides me with protection against loss, theft or damage for a wide range of personal goods, purchases using my Gold Credit Card from Banif Bank. 

I am automatically covered for 90 days from date of purchase for item purchased with my Gold Credit Card both in Malta, Gozo and abroad. Claims have to be made within 45 days from the date of loss or damage.

  • Priority Pass 

At last, I can escape the chaos of cancellations, flight delays and crowded airport departure halls and instead enjoy a quiet sanctuary where I will find everything I need - for business or relaxation prior to a flight!

  • Priority Traveller - Bag-Guard Tags

Priority Traveller Bag-Guard Tags are the answer to lost luggage. 

I can protect my luggage with Priority Traveller's unique Bag-Guard tags. Should my checked-in luggage become lost, I simply need to notify the airline and call my Priority Traveller membership Office who will help me travel down my luggage and have it returned to me. 

All I need to do is: 

    • remove all old airline destination labels from my luggage; 
    • secure my Priority Traveller Bag-Guard tags to the handles of my luggage; and 
    • at check-in, verify that the airline destination label is correct.

It is important that I always keep Priority Traveller informed of changes to my address and telephone number in case they need to contact me regarding a retrieved luggage. 

All I have to do to apply for the Priority Collection package is to express my request by sending an email on customercare@banif.com.mt with my full name and ID card number or simply place a request through Banif's Internet Banking - Banif@st. The option can be found within the Credit Cards menu.

Being a Gold Credit Card holder, I can enjoy special discounts on Atlas Insurance health schemes. 

I can benefit from a 10% discount on the normal subscription rates for private healthcare insurance if I pay the premium by using my Gold Credit Card. 

Health insurance makes it affordable to receive treatment as a private patient. 

I can: 

    • avoid waiting lists; 
    • cut down on the time it takes me to get better; 
    • choose where to receive treatment;
    • choose who provides the treatment; 
    • benefit from being treated in private facilities with a private room.

  • Visa Global Customer Assistance Services 

Emergency Assistance for Travellers 

No matter where I travel, I can call the Visa Global Customer Assistance Service number 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and a customer service representative will be available to assist me. I can call on 001 443 641 2004 for assistance. 

I can lodge a lost or stolen card report, arrange for a replacement Credit Card or emergency case delivery with my Bank's approval and make any other Visa Card-related inquiry. 

To best assist the customer service representative, it is important that I have this information at hand: 

  • name of my Bank - Banif Bank (Malta) plc; 
  • Credit Card type (e.g Visa Classic, Visa Gold, Manchester United, PAVI Card); 
  • country where the card was issued - Malta; 
  • exact cardholder name as printed on the card;
  • billing address - where I receive my monthly Credit Card statement 
  • home phone number; 
  • circumstances of the loss or theft; 
  • my identification verification information, as provided when I applied for my card (e.g date of birth, mother's maiden name or similar). 

If I know the full sixteen (16) -digit credit card number, this information will help reduce the time it takes to cancel my lost or stolen Credit Card. Fees apply for use of this service. Please refer to the Banif Tariff of Charges. 

Getting started  

Applying for a Gold Credit Card is simple. All I have to do is visit a Banif branch and take with me: 

  • my ID Card; 
  • evidence of income; last year's FS3 and the last 3 months' payslips OR if I am self-employed, my last 3 years' Income Tax return, including Profit and Loss Account; and 
  • bank statements of all my accounts held with other banks. 

The Bank reserves the right to request further documentation if deemed necessary. 

 

3D Secure 

The Gold Credit Card from Banif Bank is 3D Secure. This technology gives me an additional layer of security when shopping online, and further protects against unauthorised and fraudulent card transactions by requiring authentication whenever an eligible purchase is made.  More information, including an FAQ and terms and conditions, are available here.
